For the past 37 years, George Myers has been an IAM activist.  While working his way up from Assembler Trainee to Journeyman Maintenance Millwright at Allis-Chalmers, George also found time to be an active member of the union.  Within two years of hiring into Allis-Chalmers, George was elected shop steward of his local, IAM Local Lodge 1400 which later split into two locals.  George’s Local Lodge positions include President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Grievance and Negotiating Committee and other committees. He also served as President and Vice President of District Lodge 98.

In 1992, after volunteering and talking to folks about joining his Machinists Union, George was hired by District Lodge 98 as an Organizer and in 1996 Business Representative.

George’s common sense approach and dedication to organizing was recognized by the Grand Lodge in 1997, when he was asked to become part of the Organizing Staff as Special Grand Lodge Representative.  In 2001 George became a Grand Lodge Representative and served in that capacity until being asked to serve as Director of the Organizing Department in January of 2009.

George and his wife Penny have a home in Pennsylvania.
