Don Barker |

Don Barker was initiated into Local Lodge 776A in July 1986 as a production worker for General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in Fort Worth, Texas. Don was elected as Conductor – Sentential in 1987 and served on several committees in the Local including Chairman of the Journeyman and By-Laws Committees. Don also represented Local 776A as a delegate to the Tarrant County Central Labor Council and was elected as Vice President of the Council. Don represented the Council as a board member of the Private Industry Council and the Tarrant County Workforce Development Board. District 776 DBR Pat Lane appointed Don to serve the membership as a Peer Advisor assisting the members during Defense Downsizing in retraining, relocation and reemployment at the federally funded Career Transition Center. Back home in the Fort Worth area Don was very active in local politics, was elected as Precinct Chair and attended several county and state political conventions. Don joined the organizing department in 1998 as an Apprentice Organizer and later was appointed to the position of Special Project Director to coordinate the AFL-CIO’s very successful multi-union SFO Organizing Project. Don and his wife June have two children J.R. and Staci. Don now makes his home in Granbury,Texas. |
