For retirees on the east coast on April 16-17, 2012 at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City - Call Letter and Registration Form and Tentative Agenda

For retirees in the west and south on April 23-24, 2012 at Bally's in Las Vegas - Call Letter & Registration Form and Tentative Agenda

Whether it's on the job or in the community, unions stand for members helping members and people in the community.

Community Services

When members experience personal problems outside the workplace, Community and Member Services Committees, consisting of highly trained member assistance providers, are there to assist. These important committees offer guidance to our brothers, sisters and members of our communities. The Retirees, Community and Membership Services Department can provide training and assistance regarding how to form these committees.

In times of natural disasters, our department coordinates relief efforts by mobilizing Member and Community Services Committees to support victims.

Membership Services

Unemployment is equally as devastating, and our committees mobilize differently to assist our laid off members. At Grand Lodge, we provide support to IAM districts, locals and members who are facing layoffs. By providing them with resources, we strive to serve our laid off brothers and sisters each and every day. We also encourage our working brothers and sisters in the field to extend a helping hand, too, and join with us in this essential endeavor.

Retirees

The number of retirees in the IAM doubled over the past decade and continues to grow, perhaps because our awesome retirees believe “that you may retire from your job, but you never retire from your union.” These dynamic, life-long unionists are instrumental in changing not only local communities but society, and are indeed a force to be reckoned with. The Retirees, Community and Membership Services Department works with the Alliance for Retired Americans and other seniors' groups to ensure a good retirement for our members.

A Lifeline For America

Without the help of social programs like Medicare and Social Security, many would not be receiving the care they need to survive.
