Meet The Staff of Strategic Resources

In today's fast-changing business environment, negotiating contracts brings many new challenges. Strategic Resources represents the IAM's innovative approach to collective bargaining. The department's research staff manages a database of more than 5,000 contracts and their economists keep tabs on industry trends. Information developed by the department is used by negotiating committees and in organizing campaigns.

Strategic Resources builds on a long tradition of research support for field representatives. In 1920, Grand Lodge Convention delegates established a "statistical bureau." Then in 1928, the Convention directed the Executive Council to "employ competent statisticians to gather facts and figures that will enable our representatives to profitably use them in negotiations."

Since 1994, Strategic Resources has played a key role in contract negotiations, organizing campaigns, legislative activities and it has helped develop strategies for the long-range success of the IAM.
