Solomon Islands - SINUW vs Ripel - Follow-up

Affiliates will recall that SINUW has been involved in a dispute with the RIPEL company since last year. The IFBWW has been supporting them in this dispute in a number of ways including arranging the legal representation for the numerous cases they have had to confront. They have managed to win all cases taken against them so far and there remains one more legal case to be run before the matter can go back to the jurisdiction of the Trades Dispute Panel. The highest court in the Solomon Islands the Court of Appeal with 3 judges brought in from England will now sit on the 27 July regarding this matter. We have managed to get legal advice throughout the preliminary matters and have also managed to get a barrister to agree to represent the union for free.
