May 14, 2010, Washington, D.C. — Dialogue on Diversity’s 2010 Health Care Symposium Health Care in the Good Society: How Far Have We Now Come? brought together an exciting lineup of speakers Wednesday, May 12 at the fourth floor conference salon at the American Federation of Teachers in Washington. Attendees included women entrepreneurs and the policy-conscious of diverse cultures and occupational niches, to hear and critique the analyses of an array of health care experts on topics ranging from the far reaching recent restructurings of America’s health care basics to the late wrinkles in the diagnosis of AIDS and Cancers.

Congress Recognizes Women's Health Month

On May 12, the House passed, 418-0, H. Con. Res. 268, a resolution recognizing National Women’s Health Month. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee approved the measure last week.

The Senate passed a similar resolution (S. Res. 530) by unanimous consent on May 14.

The resolution encourages women to take preventive steps to improve their health and recognizes the role of several federal agencies in improving women’s health.

HHS Affordable Care Act -- Get the Facts

To assist the public in understanding how they will personally be affected by the HHS Affordabel Care Act a series of fact sheets have been published.  These fact sheets examine the impact of various groups such as children, women, African Americans, Latinos, seniors, veterans, etc.  In addition, there are fact sheets appropriate for small businesses, early retirees and Medicare Part D Beneficiaries.

Getting the Facts on Cervical Cancer

Every year 500,000 women develop cervical cancer and almost 300,000 die because they don't have the knowledge or access to preventative measures. Almost every case of cervical cancer can be prevented through programs using the Pap Test, HPV Test and the HPV Vaccine.
