Going Green is Good for Women

The group Women's Policy Inc., hosted an event on May 20th to promote how getting involved with the "green" trend can help women obtain economic security and stability.  The event, made possible through a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation featured leading women leaders from groups who examine employment trends, as well as some congressional representataives.

Changing Face of Motherhood

A new study released by the Pew Research Center finds that the demographics of motherhood is changing.  Birth statistics compared between 1990 and 2008 show a significant decrease in teenage births and a measurable increase in children being born to women in the 35+ category.  Corresponding statistics show that there is an increase in the number of unmarried mothers and the number of mothers college education.  These trends were consistent across racial and ethnic groups.

Advancing Economic Security for Unmarried Women

The Center for American Progress examines the economic situation of unmarried American women.  Today nearly half of women are unmarried—a transformational societal change from 1960 when only one-third of women were unmarried. And today virtually every woman will spend at least part of her adult life as the sole supporter of herself or her family. With so many women living on their own, it is crucial that lawmakers take seriously unmarried women’s economic security needs.
