The CEO of General Electric, Jeff Immelt, is unlikely to suffer the same fate as former U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal for calling the U.S. “a pathetic exporter” and blaming President Obama for the nation’s economic distress. But maybe he should.
Speaking at a luncheon in Rome, Italy, Immelt complained about what he called a "terrible" national mood in the U.S. and expressed concern that the Obama administration’s pending financial reform would dampen a "tepid" U.S. economic recovery.
In an oversimplification worthy of radio talker Glenn Beck, Immelt declared that business executives dislike the president, and the president doesn't like business, according to a report in the Financial Times.
“This is the same CEO who relentlessly chases cheap labor all over the world while complaining the U.S. is exporting too much of its manufacturing capability,” said IAM President Tom Buffenbarger. “Instead of exporting jobs, at which Immelt is expert, GE needs to focus on preserving the capability to export U.S.-made products.”

People should be factual and avoid hate. The economy is flowing in the right direction. Companies should bring back the jobs exported in the pastThu. July 08, 2010
General Electric is a classic example of anti-union companies. If it was up to them we would all be working for the wages they are paying in the under developed countries. They only care about the bottom line, certainly not about the employees.Thu. July 08, 2010
I remember as a child of 10, hearing my cousin of ten telling me, \" At G.E. profit is our most important product \". And that was back in 1954. How insightfull at that age, Even he knew how evil the corporate giants were. Boy, do we have a dumbass society. At this point, not worth saving. Unions are shot. Full steam ahead for the elite and their Government backed banks and corporations, with the good graces of the Supreme Court. We, the people are just taxed, taxed, taxed chattel, with phony money. The Courts are Legal Fiction, along with our names. Lawyers keep the secret oath to the B.A.R. as to keep us ingnorant, from cradle to grave. To much fraud going on at every level of society to mention here.Thu. July 08, 2010
There ya go. Another brilliant comment from a strong union brother. You must be a big supporter of the last administration that raped and pillaged the working class in favor of the rich. You know, the guy who helped bring on the greatest economic disaster since the Great Depression. In case you forgot, I think you called him DUBYA. Mike Wilkshire US Airways Fleet Service DFWWed. good for Immelt---he is a business man, and understands what it takes to make America prosperous,, unlike that idiot in the Whitehouse who has never had an actual job, except trying to stir up trouble and live off of other people\'s money.
