It’s third and goal to go as the U.S. Congress gets ready to vote within days on historic legislation that will reshape the health care industry in the United States. With health care premiums growing at three times the rate of wages and 14,000 Americans losing their health insurance every day, now is time to act.
Americans need a health care bill that provides quality coverage for themselves and their families, a robust public option that makes coverage affordable, and continued tax-free benefits.
Take a stand. Send a message. Join the AFL-CIO National Week of Action and tell Congress the time to pass comprehensive health reform is now. No computer? Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and tell your lawmaker to support comprehensive health care reform.

We will never have affordable health care under the free market system. The high costs of health care have cut into our members wages - and it never stops. It seems as if every time a contract comes up, members have to pay more for insurance. The insurance firms are only interested in making stockholders happy and lining the CEO\'s pockets. Actually, two of the best run health care plans are Medicare and the VA systems. Both are government run. They both use good practices; administrative costs for Medicare is approximately 3% - far lower than the 34% for free market plans. The VA negotiates to keep costs down. Give me government run health care over free market any time. If what some people say about national health care is correct why do all those other countries keep theirs and why are the greatest majority of their citizens happy with it?Sat. November 07, 2009

I don\'t support health care reform. I support free market competition to drive costs down. You want us to support a bill that none of these thieves have read and which exempts them from its\' provisions. As more of the contents become known, it is clear this is nothing but a massive tax burden, a new system of penalizing people, and more intrusion by a government that has grown too big and arrogant. The government has NEVER had the ability to run a single program without delays, cost overruns, and abuse. This is what you want me to support ? The people who screwed up Social Security, Amtrak, the housing market, and on and on....... This is why unions are dying in this country. I belong to a union, but my country comes first.Thu. health care reform is what we need, but not in the way the Democrats are trying to shove down our throats.
