A Look at Health Care Costs in the States

December 12, 2007 - Families USA, a national health advocacy group, has released a set of reports that examines the health care crisis in individual states.

Findings include:

  • 456,000 New Mexicans are in families that will spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care costs in 2008.
  • More than 1.3 million Washingtonians are in families that will spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care costs in 2008.
  • Nearly 1.6 million Virginians are in families that will spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care costs in 2008.
  • Nearly 1.4 million Arizonans are in families that will spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care costs in 2008.
  • Nearly 2.2 million Ohioans are in families that will spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care costs in 2008.
