Washington, D.C., December 15, 2005 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) routed the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) in an election to determine representation rights for nearly 1,800 truck drivers employed at multiple locations by Auto Truck Transport (ATT).
The vote total as reported by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) was 946 for the IAM and 338 for the IBT.
December 8, 2005 - The IAM announced a tentative agreement today with Continental Airlines on behalf of the airline’s 8,300 Flight Attendants.
The IAM is calling on NASA to cease launch preparations on the plutonium-powered New Horizons project due to safety concerns over Boeing’s use of inexperienced replacement workers.
Nov. 7, 2005 – The IAM won an important legal victory in Federal Court today when a judge issued a permanent injunction that expanded free speech rights of striking Boeing workers in Huntsville, Alabama.

September 14, 2005 – “The IAM is prepared to defend our members and their interests throughout the bankruptcy process,” said Robert Roach, Jr., General Vice President of Transportation for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) following the announcement that Northwest Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
Washington, D.C., September 01, 2005 – “Machinists Union members voted twice today. Once to reject a contract offer by the Boeing Company that took away far more than it gave, and a second time to strike. Both votes were overwhelming," said Tom Buffenbarger, president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
September 1, 2005: Machinists union members voted overwhelmingly by 86 percent tonight to strike Boeing at 12:01 a.m. Friday over issues of pensions, health care and job security.

July 26, 2005 – The IAM is calling on Maytag’s board of directors to withhold approval of any sale that would result in the widespread loss of jobs or the transfer of the company’s manufacturing facilities to low wage locations in the U.S. or overseas.
