| Giselle Jasmin – information Technology The main opinion about unions is that they take your dues. That’s pretty much it, they take your money and you don’t really see the benefit of it. BUT, I can attest to the fact that that’s not true. |
John Jennings – Nurse With the union here now, it’s much easier to encourage my colleagues to seek a solution through the union for ongoing problems. |

| Lucius Martin – Community Development Specialist If you are a mechanic working in the City of Long Beach’s Fleet Services, to someone in my situation, we are working on the front lines of fighting poverty and employment; we still need the fairness, the livable wages, the collective bargaining opportunities and the strong health benefits. Things that only a union can bring to a work place. |
Hugh Ramsey - Flight Service Specialist I’m really impressed with their professionalism, their resources, they just seem to know what the heck they are doing. There’s no doubt about it. |

| Al Nuzzo – Helicopter Technician Before the union came in they could fire you for any reason. You should have been here before the union when we weren’t treated as well, We weren’t treated as equals. |
Marianne Madden – Haz-Mat Coordinator The supervisors could treat you anyway they wanted to and there wasn’t anything that you could do. Sexual harassment even though we were on the base was really big. Since we’ve had the union, we get treated a lot better, we’ve gotten really good raises, cost of living, everything is good. It’s a 180 degrees. Since we’ve been union, I think it’s wonderful. I’ve been to some of the schools. There’s a lot of support anytime we have anything. There’s somebody that can help us. We didn’t have that before. |
