The Employee Free Choice Act

Fri. February 16, 2007

February 16, 2007 - Urge Your Representative to Help Working Families by supporting H.R. 800, The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).

With a new Congress in place, working families finally have the opportunity to get ahead. House lawmakers have introduced H.R. 800 The Employee Free Choice Act – with 231 co-sponsors! The Employee Free Choice Act will profoundly impact working families by restoring workers’ rights to form unions so they can negotiate for fair wages, benefits, and working conditions.

The current system for forming unions is broken. Too often when workers seek to form a union, corporations pull out every trick in the book to stop them - including harassment, intimidation, coercion and even firing workers.

The Employee Free Choice Act would restore workers’ freedom to form unions and bargain by strengthening penalties for companies that coerce or intimidate workers, establishing mediation and binding arbitration when the employer and workers cannot agree on a first contract and enabling workers to form unions when a majority sign union authorization cards.

Please urge your representative to support the Employee Free Choice Act here.
