Carmen Division Assistant General President Marvin Napier will retire effective June 1, 2010 after 41 years. Brother Napier began his railroad career as a Carman Helper on the former Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad (now CSX) in January 1969. He was promoted to a Tentative Carman and became a Journeyman Carman on November 12, 1973.
Marvin was elected President of Saltwater Lodge #6185 in 1977. Since that time he has been elected to serve as Local Chairman, General Chairman of JPB 90, General Vice President of the Carmen Division and Assistant General President of the Carmen Division.
“Marvin’s more than 40 years of dedication to the Carmen Division and to TCU brought strength to our union. His friendship and leadership will be missed,” said Carmen General President Rich Johnson.
“I will never forget the installation of Marvin Napier as one of my first official duties directly after being elected President,” said TCU International President Bob Scardelletti. “Marvin exemplifies what it means to be an extraordinary union representative. I want to extend our gratitude to Marvin for all he has done for our union and its membership through his accomplishments, hard work and devotion.”
