ASWC on-board members ratified the new Amtrak contract by a vote of 450 for and 116 against, an overwhelming 4 to 1 margin. The ASWC represents all Amtrak on-board service workers and is made up of TCU, TWU, and HERE.
The contract provides 15% in general wage increases, beginning with a 1.5% increase this July 1. It also caps future health care contributions and freezes co-pays and deductibles.
“I am very happy to see that our ASWC members will be receiving their first wage increase within a few weeks,” (July 1, 2010) said TCU International President Bob Scardelletti. “What a difference a new Amtrak President and a new US President makes; several months versus 8 years. Your vote counts!”
