National Vice President David L. Steele

System Board 96 General Chairman David L. Steele was elected by the Executive Council to assume the duties of  National Vice President effective August 1, 2006 and was re-elected to this office at the 2009 Convention. He was assigned by National President Scardelletti to take charge of the Manpower Training Department on January 1, 2007. Dave started his rail union career in 1969 as a yard clerk with the Southern Railway Company, becoming a member of Lookout Lodge 24.  He served as Local and Division Chairman from 1976 until 1984, the year he was elected General Secretary-Treasurer of System Board 96.  He was first elected to lead the System Board in 1987.  He also had served as a member of the union’s Board of Trustees since 2004.
