Local 1377 Award Winning Editor Passes On

It is with a great deal of sadness that we have to inform you that IAM Local 1377 award winning editor Dennis Schumacher, passed away on March 10, 2007, at the age of 52 after losing a hard fought battle with cancer. Dennis worked at Waukesha Engine in Waukesha, WI.


Dennis became an editor of the Informer in 1994 and for years he was the driving force that earned the Informer several awards.

Dennis has touched all of our lives through his dedication to the Informer and in the articles that he wrote. Dennis always insisted on excellence.

On March 16, 2007, the local office received notification the article  Dennis wrote that appeared in the January 2006 issue of the Informer entitled “Troops Return to Waukesha Engine” had won second place in the IAM national newsletter contest.

Other union offices that Dennis held before becoming editor were: first shift steward and committeeman.

Dennis will be sadly missed by his family, the editors, the committee, the stewards, the executive board and by his fellow union members.
