New IAM members for the Electrical Assembly group at Strippit in Akron, NY ratified a first agreement recently. The new three year accord features wage increases of 3% each in the second two years of the contract and provides an increased contribution to the 401k of 50 cents immediately and an additional 5 cents in the next two years.
The contract maintained very good health care at an average employee contribution rate of 15% of the premium with increased Life Insurance and AD&D coverage. Improvements were also added in overtime premiums, 11 paid holidays annually, while maintaining the employee’s current vacation schedule.
"Job protection language was also a priority in this negotiation," said District 65 BR Ron Warner. "Non bargaining unit employees are not allowed to do bargaining unit work and we were successful in adding additional job protect through subcontracting language."
