In an effort to help their neighbors in need in the Greater Springfield, MA, and Hartford, CT, communities, members of Local 743 in Windsor Locks, CT, reached into their pockets and donated a total of $5,685 to two well-merited organizations. The money was divided equally among Open Pantry of Springfield, MA and the Connecticut United Labor Agency.
“In this struggling economy, these charities need our help more than ever,” said Local 743 President Mark Hebert. “Unemployment rates are staggering, and the need for food assistance has never been greater.”
The United Labor Agency provides a variety of human service and employment training programs to meet the immediate needs of workers. Open Pantry provides life-sustaining services to the ever-growing population of those in need.
