Minnesota Mechanics ink a new 3-year deal with Auto Dealers

Tue. May 11, 2010

IAM District 77 and Twin Cities Automotive Lodge 737 ratified a new 3-year agreement with the St. Paul Automobile Dealers Association recently. There are 545 members in IAM Local 737 at 22 stores in the St. Paul - Minneapolis, MN metro area.

The new agreement includes a 2% general wage increase each year, significant employer contributions to the health and welfare trust each year and an increased employer contribution to the IAM National Pension Fund in each year of the 3 year agreement.

“The bargaining committee did a great job. They stuck together and brought a good agreement to the members to vote on.  Considering all the turmoil in the automotive industry, 2 manufacturers in bankruptcy, and a banking crisis that led to a recession in the last 2 years, this is a very good settlement,” said IAM District 77 Directing Business Representative Don Yetman.

IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Philip J. Gruber praised all those involved saying, “Our members at Local 737 have hung tough over the last few years. They even took a 1 year wage freeze in 2009 due to the uncertain and difficult economic conditions.  The District staff and Local committee did a great job in bringing back a contract worthy of ratification.”
