Minnesota Machinists meet with Congressman Oberstar

The Minnesota State Council of Machinists recently met with Congressman Jim Oberstar who represents Minnesota's eighth congressional district. The Machinist's delegation thanked the Congressman for his recent vote for health care reform and many years of support for issues important to working families.

The delegation discussed the status of the Northwest Airlines / Delta merger and related issues.  IAM members stressed the importance of the National Mediation Board taking steps to overhaul the union representation election rules for air and rail workers in the United States. He will be and has already sent letters in support of our position and is more than happy to testify at upcoming hearings.
