Nebraska Machinists battle flood waters at Nuclear Plants

IAM District 6, Local 31 members working at Omaha Public Power Districts Ft. Calhoun Nuclear Power Station, Nebraska City and North Omaha Stations are battling to keep the plants from flooding during the great Missouri river flood of 2011.

Machinists are working around the clock to sandbag and maintain OPPDs generating facilities and protect the ratepayers assets in eastern Nebraska.  During this declared emergency machinists operate equipment to fill 4000 lb sandbags used to build levies and shore up switchgear equipment to keep the lights on in Omaha and eastern Nebraska.
