John Deere Horicon Works celebrates 100th anniversay

Mon. September 05, 2011

Recently, IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Philip J. Gruber, leadership from IAM District 10, members of IAM Local 873 and retirees participated in a historic event celebrating John Deere's 100th year of business in Horicon, Wisconsin.

"I’d like to congratulate all those currently working at John Deere Horicon Works and all those who have worked so hard in the past to make this a World Class company that produces a World Class product," said GVP Gruber.

Looking back through the years…

There has been a Union at this facility for many years starting out with an Independent AFL Union Local #23,223 that was chartered back in 1942. Then in 1955, Four hundred Machinists held their first elections at John Deere Van Brunt.

GVP Gruber recognized the charter members of IAM Local 873 saying, "We stand on the foundation that you built for us to enjoy through many years of hard work and dedication to our great Union."

John Deere Horicon Works has always focused on integrity and innovation along with Community and Civic Responsibility.  The Horicon facility has re-invented itself over time. With that in mind, the Company and the members of IAM Local 873 help make John Deere profitable and competitive.
