Local Lodge 2771 and District 776 gained about 110 new members in a recent election at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX.
Workers at Defense Support Services voted to join the IAM. The company provides facilities maintenance for the base. The jobs had recently converted from civil service to service contract, and the employees were concerned about the level of benefits, and the cost of those benefits.
District 776 Business Representative David Webb handled the election. “I’d like to recognize LL 2771 Organizing Committee members Mike Gray, Willie Lenart and Bud Dulwort for their hard work on this campaign,” said Webb.
It was a great win for LL 2771 and DL 776,” said Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez. “I’d like to welcome our newest members to the Machinist Union family.”
