November 16, 2005 - United Airlines announced plans to close its Denver Reservations Center effective approximately January 15, 2006. In addition to enhanced severance and separation benefits covering extraordinary circumstances already contained the IAM contract, District 141 is also negotiating for improved retirement opportunities without the loss of benefits for the 235 affected members.
“This is the latest example of the high human cost of United’s perpetual bankruptcy,” said District 141 President Randy Canale. “IAM members have poured their time, money and hope into United Airlines only to be asked to make additional sacrifices. It is time for United to acknowledge their investment, their loyalty and their basic dignity as American workers by ending off-shoring of reservation functions.”
