March 20, 2008 - The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today issued the following statement from IAM District 141 President Randy Canale and IAM District 142 President Tom Higginbotham President in response to Aloha Airlines’ second bankruptcy filing in three years:
"Unfortunately, Aloha members are seasoned veterans of bankruptcy wars. The Machinists Union has retained the services of Sharon Levine of Lowenstein and Sandler to represent our member’s interest in this matter. The IAM will aggressively defend our members in this process. This filing is clearly a direct result of a failed energy policy of the Bush-Cheney administration."
The IAM represents 1,750 Aloha Mechanic & Related, Ramp Service, Customer Service, Reservation and Clerical employees. More information about the Aloha Airlines bankruptcy can be found at www.iam141.org and www.iamdl142.org.
