District 160 - Congratulationsare in order for DBR Don Hursey and his very busy staff. District 160, which led all Districts and unafilliated locals in the territory with their organizing of new members last year, are once again leading the way. The most recent victory was the organizing of 203 new workers in Silverdale, WA. 160 is once again over the established goal of organizing at least 250 new workers per DBR. The unit consist of Federal workers in a non appropriated funds group. Special recognition goes to District 160 organizer Christine Tangonan, sister Tangonan did an outstanding job assisting BR Mike Goddard and brother Sam Stuart in getting well over half the workers to sign membership petitions prior to the election. "This was an outstanding effort by all" stated GVP Pearson and my special thanks and congratulations go to the entire team for their efforts. Brother Hursey and his staff will be recognized, once again, at the upcoming Western Territory Staff Conference scheduled in September.
District 190 - Directing Business Representative Jim Beno is pleased to announce that Pedro Mendez has secured another organizing win, this one is at Lithia Dodge - Jeep, in Burlingame, CA. Brother Mendez won it with 7 to 1 result of the vote. "It was not easy", stated Brother Mendez , "they used LM2's, also the strike of Serramonte Dodge and Lithia in Concord, they tried everything but I knew I was going to win big. These workers were determined to have a say in their future" GVP Pearson added, "Congratulations are in order for a job well done. The entire staff of District 190 has proven that when we deliver our message of hope to the automotive service industry, we can win."
