Members of Local Lodge #794 made the “Machinist Union” presence known, when they set up shop on Friday September 16th, 2006 at the New Mexico State Fair.
“The New Mexico State Fair draws thousands of people from throughout the State and beyond.” stated Directing Business Representative Ernest “Red” Dow. “It is a prime opportunity to get our name out into the State Communities and try to solicit future members for this Organization.”
GVP Pearson said "This is the kind of community outreach that can pay big dividends for the IAM. Organizing is hard work, but this local found a way to reach out to their community and have a good time doing it. Great job by everyone involved. DBR "Red" Dow and his membership have been doing wonderful things in the Albuquerque area, and this is just another example; I'm very proud of them."
Local 794 members, Anthony Sanchez who set up and oversaw the operation and Kenny Sanchez of General Electric, were a couple of the many volunteers who took time off of work, to promote this very important “Organizing” endeavor.
D.B.R. Dow stated “It is individuals such as all of these volunteers, who make a difference and will help this Organization in New Mexico, continue to prosper and grow. I thank them!”
