December 5, 2008 - IAM Aircraft Mechanics at Airport #2 in West Jordan, Utah, and Harry Reid Army Base in Reno, Nevada, ratified a new agreement this week with employer DynCorp International. Both units support DynCorp's Life Cycle Contract Support (LCCS) program.
The two-year deal represents a first agreement with the newly organized Reno group and expires December 15, 2010. Terms of the accord brought both areas, which were behind the Area Wage Determination (AWD), up to current standards, plus a 3.8% GWI on February 1, 2009, effectively raising wages $1.91-$4.23 per hour. A second GWI, payable in February of 2010, boosts pay another 3.4%. Health and Welfare (flex benefits) were also increased from the current level of $375 bi-weekly to $440 bi-weekly in 2009 and $465 bi-weekly in 2010. Other highlights include $1.00 per hour lead pay, an increased boot allowance and significant improvements to vacation time.
"Our new members in Nevada had gone five years without a pay raise," said District 190 Area Director Mark Martin. "They were thankful and are proud to be members of the IAM."
GLR Mike Wardle echoed the sentiment. "The members in Utah were very satisfied with the gains made. Both areas ratified the contract unanimously."
"GLR Mike Wardle and District 190 AD Mark Martin put a lot of work into this process and it shows in the caliber of agreement that was reached," remarked Western Territory GVP Lee Pearson. "Congratulations for their efforts in improving the quality of life for these members."
