Today the flags at District 751 in Seattle are flying at half mast, in tribute to Jimmy Darrah who passed away yesterday. Jimmy had most recently served the membership on the IAM as the grievance coordinator for the district. Over the years, he had served in a variety of leadership positions for his local and the district.
Western Territory GVP Gary Allen said that Brother Darrah was a true gentleman who never met a stranger. "His spirit, and constant positive attitude was an inspiration to anyone who got to be around him, we have truly lost a champion and a journeman trade unionist. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife, Holly, and to all of his family and friends."
Jimmy was a hard-working family man known for his honesty, integrity and sense of humor, and his skills at the BBQ grill are the stuff of legend inside Local C. He was genuine, compassionate and an all-around good guy. He will be truly missed.
District 751 P/DBR Tom Wroblewski said, "Jimmy was always willing to jump in and help. His spirit and energy were an example for all of us. This membership has been very lucky to have had him in positions of leadership and service, he will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to his family, we have lost a good friend, far too early."
