The IAM is mourning the passing of retired Grand Lodge Representative Richard “Dick” Harden, at the age of 88. Brother Harden was a Business Representative for District Lodge 94, in Los Angeles, California, prior to faithfully serving the IAM Western Territory membership for many years as a Grand Lodge Representative. Upon his retirement, Brother Harden remained active in several Labor groups and charities, as well as serving IAM Local Lodge 1414 as an officer for many years.
Brother Harden will be laid to rest on Monday, March 15, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., with a memorial service only. The address of the funeral home is Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. The phone number is 510-538-3131.
Western Territory GVP Gary Allen said, "Dick will be sorely missed, not only by his loving family, but by those of us who worked closely with him for so many years and counted him as our brother and our friend. He was a true journeyman in the labor movement, he served with dignity and determination."
