Wharton Welcomes Chance to Serve IAM Members
"It's a great honor to accept the gift that the members have given me to serve as your General Secretary-Treasurer. Our job is to make it possible for working families to live better. And we try each and every day to do that," said Don Wharton. "We thank all our members for the support, assistance and hard work they do to keep this great union vibrant and growing."

As General-Secretary-Treasurer, Wharton watches over the IAM's financial affairs. "Over the next few years our goal is to standardize the accounting practices of all our local lodges. It's time we get behind one accounting system," said Wharton. "We have local lodges ranging in size from less than a hundred to over ten thousand members. With one type of program for all secretary-treasurers to use, we can dramatically speed up the return of per capita reimbursement to the local lodges," said Wharton. "Computers may not be the answer to every question, but this is one case where technology can make our lives and jobs easier rather than more difficult."
