The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today filed applications with the National Mediation Board (NMB) asking the Board to rule that United Airlines and Continental Airlines are now operating as a single transportation system for union representation purposes in the Fleet/Ramp Service and Stock & Stores classifications. The NMB is the federal government agency that conducts union elections in the airline industry.

Washington D.C., December 14, 2010 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), District 143, today announced a tentative agreement with Alaska Airlines that covers the carrier’s 2,600 Clerical, Office and Passenger Service (COPS) employees.

“This agreement provides our members the wages they deserve and the job security they demanded,” said Jackie Fay, District 143 General Chairperson and chief negotiator. “The IAM negotiating committee is unanimously recommending membership ratification.”

Machinists File Objections over Delta Interference
