Each year thousands of North Americans sign up to join the IAM. It is the belief of the IAM every working person in North America be afforded the opportunity to join collectively and negotiate with their employer over wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment. Since 1888, the IAM has been an advocate for working people, today that tradition and responsibility continues.

Service Contract Sparks Mississippi Organizing Win

One hundred and thirty workers who perform site maintenance and repair work for Computer Science Corporation at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS, have voted overwhelmingly for IAM representation. The workers recently saw their jobs transitioned from Civil Service to Service Contract, and many experienced a 15 percent to 25 percent pay cut as a result.

FedEx Launches Campaign to Deny Organizing Rights

On the heels of an overwhelming vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to provide uniform organizing rights for workers in the package delivery industry, FedEx this week announced a multi-million dollar campaign to preserve current language that has allowed FedEx to stifle organizing drives for more than a decade.
