International President Tom Buffenbarger today announced that the IAM
Executive Council has approved the appointment of Railroad District 19
General Chairman Jeff Doerr to serve on the IAM Law Committee.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood declared recently that
President Obama’s $8 billion commitment to high-speed rail and expanded
intercity passenger service was designed to create U.S. jobs and to
boost domestic manufacturing.
Local 180 in North Platte, Nebraska, one of the oldest lodges in the
IAM, is celebrating their 110th anniversary. The members work at the
largest switching rail yard in the world, Union Pacific’s Bailey Yard.
