Expanding Diversity, Resolution 7

Resolution 7 is designed to make the labor movement more attentive and inclusive for women, people of color and other excluded groups such as LGBT workers, workers with disabilities and immigrant workers, to name a few.  It is now more important than ever for the labor movement to speak to, speak for and nurture these segregated groups into more active and leadership roles.

To do that, Resolution 7 establishes various points to which the labor movement commits to expand leadership development; create sustainable efforts to grow diversity within the state federations and labor councils; increase inclusion for LGBT workers, workers with disabilities, immigrant workers, young workers, women and people of color; build and maintain partnerships wtihin communities; and encourage affiliate unions to build diversity within their unions.
