IAM District 77, Vadnais Heights, MN, hosts the district’s annual “Hawgs for Dogs” Charity Motorcycle Run and “John Massetti Memorial” Golf Tournament to benefit Guide Dogs of America.

IAM District 77, Vadnais Heights, MN, recently hosted two important annual events to benefit Guide Dogs of America (GDA).

The first, the IAM District 77 28th Annual “Hawgs for Dogs” Charity Motorcycle Run, burned more than 200 miles as approximately 20 drivers and 35 participants took to the open roads. The event raised about $12k for Guide Dogs. Minnesota Machinists are the originators of the now-nationwide IAM “Hawgs for Dogs” runs and the oldest at 28 years.

“District 77 and the Minnesota Machinists want to thank all of the participants, drivers, golfers and sponsors that helped make both the annual bike run and golf tournament a success,” said IAM District 77 Directing Business Representative John Steigauf.

Guide Dogs of America provides guide dogs free of charge to blind and visually-impaired men and women across the U.S. and Canada. The school was founded in 1948 after a blind IAM member was rejected for a guide dog due to his age of 57.
