Reciprocal Transfer Agreements

Reciprocal transfer agreements permit members of one union to transfer to another union when changing their work jurisdiction without payment of a new initiation or reinstatement fee.

On September 12, 1998, Official Circular 779 replaced Official Circular 717 which updated those unions signatory to reciprocal transfer agreements with the IAM and revised the procedure governing acceptance by transfer into our organization of members of other organizations signatory to reciprocal transfer agreements.

Those unions signatory to reciprocal transfer agreements are as follows:

United Cement, Lime and Gypsum Workers International Union―March 4, 1957

United Furniture Workers of America―March 21, 1957

International Chemical Workers Union―February 17, 1958

Mechanics Educational Society of America―December 10, 1958

United Rubber, Cork, Linoleum and Plastic Workers of America―December 31, 1958

International Union of Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers―October 20, 1959

United Glass and Ceramic Workers of North America―July 1, 1960
