America's Most
Pressing Issues
Election
2002 begins as a muddle, President George W. Bush is riding high. His
approval ratings top 80 percent . yet, even GOP pundits question if his
popularity can help Republican candidates in this midterm election.
Congressional Democrats seem unsure of themselves. The bi-partisanship
evident after September 11has vanished. Their economic stimulus package
is caught in an eddy of conflicting financial news.
Can Election 2002 get any more complicated?
Yes, it can. Redrawn districts, Enron's collapse, an expanding war
against terrorism and a long recession--all create cross currents in the
electorate.
With those currents shifting daily, politicians sail into dangerous
waters. A keen sense of direction and clearly charted course is a plus.
To see what working families want done, the IAM is conducting an
in-depth issue survey. This online survey will ask IAM members to rank
the domestic and foreign policy issues that directly impact their lives.
IAM members can participate in this survey by clicking here.
The Results will be published online and in the next IAM Journal.
