Dr. William Barber, II, the outspokenly progressive North Carolina pastor, spoke at Georgetown University recently to drive home the importance of religion and organized labor working together to enact social and economic change.

Barber, leader of the Moral Monday movement, preached pro-labor policies, adequate education funding, universal health care and reform in the criminal justice system.

“Somewhere the people must have a stage,” said Barber. “It doesn’t matter what political party is in power, we must raise our dissent.”
