Connecticut District 26 filed Unfair Labor Practice charges this week
with the National Labor Relations Board over a decision by Pratt &
Whitney to lay off 38 workers from the Cheshire overhaul and repair
facility.

IAM representatives attended the annual shareholder meeting for United
Technologies Corporation (UTC) in Indianapolis, IN, this week and
actively supported a proposal to give shareholders a say on excessive
executive compensation at the aerospace giant.
The IAM is supporting a proposal calling for a shareholder vote on
runaway executive compensation at United Technologies Corporation
(UTC). The proposal, submitted by the AFL-CIO Reserve Fund, will be
presented during the UTC annual shareholder meeting in Indianapolis,
IN, and reflects deepening public concern about executive compensation
practices.
Machinist Local 1746 members at UTC Power in South Windsor, CT,
overwhelmingly approved a new collective bargaining agreement covering
wages, benefits and other working conditions for 150 hourly workers who
manufacture fuel cells.
