IAM members from across Alabama recently gathered for the IAM Union Alabama State Council meeting, where IAM leaders, community allies, and political candidates came together to discuss critical issues impacting working families across the state.
The State Council meeting opened with a welcome from Huntsville City Council Member Michelle Watkins (Dist. 1). IAM delegates engaged with a full agenda of speakers and presentations on legislative priorities, organizing efforts, and political engagement. Topics included defending service contract jobs, expanding manufacturing opportunities, advocating for union rights, and ensuring that working people have a strong voice in state and federal government.
“When working people in Alabama stand together, there is no force more powerful,” said IAM Union Alabama State Council President Rickie Langford. “This meeting was about uniting our voices and building our strength across the political aisles for the road ahead.”
Key political figures and labor allies addressed the council, including:
State Representative Anthony Daniels, District 53
State Representative Laura Hall, District 19
Dr. Will Boyd, Candidate for Governor of Alabama
