Quality Control workers at Wellman Dynamics have voted overwhelmingly to join the IAM Union, delivering a decisive victory in a National Labor Relations Board election on Sept. 16, 2026.
“These workers showed what can happen when people stand together with a clear purpose and a commitment to one another,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli. “Their vote sends an unmistakable message that Wellman Dynamics employees want a voice on the job and a union they can count on. We’re proud to welcome these workers to the IAM and look forward to helping them negotiate a strong first contract that reflects their priorities and gives them a stronger voice in their workplace.”
The organizing win represents a major step forward for 69 Quality Control employees in the Fixture, X-ray, Layout and Laboratory departments at the aerospace-grade casting manufacturer. The workers will be represented by IAM District 6.
The campaign began when workers reached out to the IAM seeking union representation. Within weeks, the organizing team had built overwhelming support and filed a petition requesting an election. From the beginning, the workers were focused on securing union protection and gaining a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their jobs.
Despite the company’s efforts to discourage union support, including hiring two anti-union consultants to conduct captive-audience meetings, workers remained united and committed to their goal. Rather than weaken their resolve, the opposition strengthened their determination to win a voice at the bargaining table.
Solidarity became a visible part of the campaign. After receiving IAM “A Union For All” shirts, workers began wearing them every Friday, establishing the day as their own “Solidarity Day” a powerful demonstration of unity and shared purpose.
The overwhelming election results reflect the workers’ commitment to standing together for a stronger future. By choosing the IAM, Wellman Dynamics employees are taking an important step toward pursuing greater job security, improved working conditions, fair wages and benefits, and the due process that comes with union representation.
IAM District 6 will work with these newly organized members as they prepare for the next phase of their union journey, building a strong foundation for collective bargaining and ensuring their voices are heard.
