IAM Talks Tech Careers with Maryland Students

Instructors and staff from the William Winpisinger Center showcased high-tech union careers at the 2nd annual Youth In Technology Summit, held October 31, 2009, in La Plata, MD. The Center sponsored a booth featuring the diverse products and services made and provided by IAM members, and answered questions about the career tracks that lead toward good union jobs of the future.

Over 500 middle and high school students, as well as parents, had the opportunity to learn about the IAM, get their picture taken next to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and take an online communications survey. “There is so much value in these kinds of community outreach events,” said Winpsinger Center Director Chris Wagoner. “When young people decide which career to pursue, we want them to think about the IAM and how a union job will benefit them.”
