IAM Presses Delta for Meeting

In an April 15th letter to the Vice President of Labor Relations at Delta Airlines, IAM General Vice President Robert Roach, Jr. repeated a request for a face-to-face meeting to discuss a number of issues, including access to Delta employees and to respond to company allegations that the IAM has been harassing Delta employees at their homes.

“To date, we have not received any response from (Delta CEO) Richard Anderson or yourself to arrange a meeting,” wrote Roach. “Therefore, we are, for the third time, requesting to schedule a meeting with the appropriate Delta officials to discuss these issues in a concerted effort to move this process forward.”

In the letter, Roach points out that the last meeting in July 2009 led to the IAM being able to file an application for representation for three crafts or classes. “In a variety of ways, Delta continues to harass and intimidate employees in an effort to influence the outcome of any representation election,” said Roach. “Employees have the legal right to make an informed decision about union representation without undue employer interference.”
