IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger has appointed Josh Diaz to the Western Territory staff – as Communications Representative, effective June 1. Diaz, a member of Local Lodge 794, will work out of the Western Territory office in Sacramento, CA and is responsible for communications activities in the territory’s 13 states.
“Josh brings a wealth of talent and passion for the labor movement, and we are excited to add him to our staff,” said IAM Western Territory GVP Gary Allen. “We look forward to his contribution toward improving the lives of working families.”
Diaz’s career started in 2001 as an Apprentice in the Mechanical Measurements department at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, where he became a Journeyperson in 2007. Diaz served his local lodge as Secretary-Treasurer since 2008 and also serves as Secretary-Treasurer for the IAM New Mexico State Council.
Diaz was also a member of the Metal Trades Council Collective Bargaining Committee for the 2008 and 2012 negotiations between the Metal Trades Council and Sandia National Laboratories, and served as Chief Steward for the Metal Trades Council as well as Chairman of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee in 2012.
