IAM Wins Top Honors at ILCA Award Ceremony

The Machinists Union won several top honors in the annual International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) Media Awards contest, which honors the best in labor journalism.

The IAM swept the category for Best Use of Social Media winning first, second and third place for its unemployment, fair trade and Works Progress Administration campaigns on Facebook, respectively. The Machinists News Network’s “The Price of Honor” took home a first place award in the Long Video category. The IAM App won second place for Best Design. And the website, www.goiam.org, won third place for Best Content.

Several IAM District publications were also honored, including the District 142 “Observer,” the District 751 “Aero Mechanic” and the District 751 “IAM Building Community” YouTube channel.

The ILCA is a professional organization that supports labor communicators in North America and is an allied organization of the AFL-CIO. The annual ILCA Journalism/Media contest is open to ILCA member publications from dozens of local and international unions.
