Wichita Machinists at Textron Aviation Vote to Accept Joint Contract

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wichita, Kansas, October 17, 2014 – Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 70 at Textron Aviation have voted 73 to 27 percent to unify under a single six-year collective bargaining agreement that commits to growing aerospace jobs in Wichita, preserves member seniority and increases pay.

The new agreement covers roughly 4,100 workers at Cessna Aircraft Co. and Beechcraft Corp., now under the umbrella of Textron Aviation.

“Our members today made a decision that will positively impact the aerospace industry and our community for years to come,” said IAM District 70 Directing Business Representative Frank Molina. “I’d like to especially thank our IAM negotiating committee for their hard work combining these two contracts. We look forward to a prosperous future for aerospace in Wichita.”

The new agreement, which runs into 2020, includes a 9.5 percent pay raise through wage increases and lump sum payments, annual cost-of-living adjustments and performance bonuses, and a bump in earned time off.
