Committee members for Seattle Local 79, along with staff members from District 160, jointly participated in the Negotiation Preparation for Bargaining Committees program at the William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, MD.

“The week was a bit challenging initially, as it was the first attempt at combining two separate bargaining groups into one class,” said District 160 Business Representative Melody Coffman. “The instructors did a journeyman’s job, and though it is an incredible amount of information to absorb, it gave us the opportunity to assemble and develop a detailed plan to secure the best contract possible.”

Members at Gear Works in Seattle make a range of gears, including industrial, marine, wind and satellite gears.

Members at Western Pneumatic Tube in Kirkland, WA create a wide variety of industrial and specialty tubing used in aerospace, military, medical, automotive and research applications.

Contracts at both facilities expire December 31, 2016.
