William LePinske

William “Bill” LePinske was appointed to the position of Midwest Territory Coordinator on June 1, 2025. Prior to his appointment to Territory Coordinator, LePinske served as an International Representative beginning in 2018, and a Special Representative beginning in 2017.

LePinske initiated into IAM Mechanics Local 701, Aurora, IL in 2002 through an organizing campaign and 6-week strike for recognition at Joliet Dodge where he was working.  As a rank-and-file member, LePinske has served as Shop Steward and Delegate to the Standard Automotive Agreement before being appointed to the position of IAM Local 701 organizer in 2011, and then to the position of Business Representative in May 2014.  While at Local 701, LePinske served as Local Communicator, and delegate to the 2012 and 2016 IAM Grand Lodge Conventions, the Illinois State Council of Machinists and the Chicago Federation of Labor.

As an International Representative, LePinske previously served as the Midwest Territory’s Territory Organizing Leader and then NLRB Representative, where his work has been covered by both The National Law Review and The Huffington Post.

LePinske has represented the IAM internationally, traveling to London in 2018 working with representatives of Unite the Union, an IAM Sister Union, to coordinate a meeting with the CEO of Rolls-Royce Corporation, successfully securing an agreement to cease all union busting activities here in the US.

Most recently, LePinske successfully negotiated a first contract for more than 400 healthcare workers at Tempus AI. This achievement also led to the chartering of the IAM’s first independent healthcare local, Local H1, marking a significant expansion into a new sector.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a student at The State University of New York, and a hobbyist IAM historian, Bill brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the labor movement to his new role.
